Common Questions

Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our Pilates Classes.

What can I expect from a Pilates & class?

Each class is instructor-led with clear guidance from start to finish. You’ll see demonstrations of every exercise, receive simple verbal cues to help you set up and move well, and understand where you should feel the work so you can adjust your alignment in real time.

We also use props to: support your movement, improve alignment and add challenge when appropriate. The goal is to help you move with clarity, confidence and control.

What should I wear?

If you’re practicing at home, wear whatever feels comfortable and allows you to move freely. For in-person classes: workout pants, tights or longer shorts are recommended. This helps you move confidently and stay focused without distractions.

Should I start with private lessons?

It depends on your goals, experience and comfort level. Private lessons are a great option if you: have specific injuries or concerns, want personalize guidance or prefer a more tailored starting point. They can also help you transition into group classes feeling stronger and more confident.

Where should I start my practice?

Start with Level 1 or L1–L2 classes—even if you’re already fit. These classes help you: learn the exercises, develop proper form and understand modifications. A strong foundation is what allows you to progress safely and effectively.

What does L1-L2 mean?

L1-L2 classes combine foundational Level 1 exercises with selected Level 2 progressions. You’ll build a strong base while gradually increasing strength, coordination and control.

Do I have to do the more advanced exercises?

No. When you hear the word “option”, it means a more advanced version of the exercise is being offered—but it’s always your choice.

You can stay with the original movement for as long as you need. Progression happens over time, and consistency matters more than complexity. Move at your own pace.

What should I do if I feel sharp pain during class?

Stop immediately. Sharp pain is a signal—not something to push through. Let your instructor know so they can offer a modification or adjustment.

Do I have to stop practicing if I sustain an injury?

No. For minor injuries, your instructor can offer modifications at the start of class to help you move safely.

If the injury is more chronic or significant, a few private sessions can provide personalized guidance—so you understand the right modifications and progressions for your body.

The goal is to keep you moving, with the right level of support.
